Maik Fischer (Head of the Summer School )
Maik coordinates projects in the fields of sustainability, entrepreneurship and sport. After completing his degree in business administration and economics, he worked in the football industry for more than ten years. His stints have included Rangers FC in Glasgow and Watford FC in the English Premier League, with a focus on supporting the clubs' social activities. In Germany, Maik has worked for a large number of clubs on a wide variety of projects. In addition to large established organizations such as Hamburger SV, Hertha BSC Berlin and Werder Bremen, he was also able to gain experience with smaller clubs. In 2009, Maik founded the company "Domhan Vision", which transformed from social projects that bring sports and entrepreneurship together into an international company that creates, runs and analyses digital learning and competence-based skills-management projects. All this under the motto of intercultural exchange.
Maik started his academic career in 2013 when he became part of the Entrepreneurship Hub team at Leuphana University in Luneburg. The team had the task of building a start-up culture within the university and Maik was responsible for the operational management of the Entrepreneurship Hub and the Social Change Hub.
Professor Dr Jantje Halberstadt
Prof. Dr. Jantje Halberstadt is professor of Economics and Sustainability at the University of Vechta, where she is also Dean of Studies at the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences. Her research areas are Entrepreneurship and Management with a focus on Sustainability including related fields, such as Entrepreneurship Education, Digitalization/ ICT, International Management, Gender Studies, Food, Heath, and Sports. Prof. Halberstadt is also a Guest Professor at the Leuphana University Lüneburg, where she was Junior Professor for Social Entrepreneurship between 2014 and 2018. She is a board member of the FGF e.V., the leading scientific association for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and SMEs in the German-speaking community, and member of the advisory board of the Yunus Centre for Social Business and Values. Jantje is an expert in sustainability-oriented entrepreneurship in research and practice. Together with her team she runs several national as well as international projects, e.g., with partners from sub-Saharan Africa. Her work has been characterized by inter- and transdisciplinarity, always bridging theory and practice, e.g., by developing transformational innovations.
Professor Dr Jorge Marx Gómez
Prof. Dr. Jorge Marx Gómez studied Computer Engineering and Industrial Engineering at the University of Applied Science in Berlin (Germany). He was a lecturer and researcher at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg (Germany) where he also obtained a PhD degree 2001 in Business Information Systems. From 2002 until 2003 he was a visiting professor for Business Informatics at the Technical University of Clausthal (Germany) and worked as guest lecturer in different countries. In 2004 he received his postdoctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg. In 2004 he received a Honorary Professorship in Business Informatics at Universidad Central de las Villas (Cuba). Since 2006 Jorge Marx Gómez is a full professor and chair of Business Information Systems at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg (Germany). He is furthermore the director of the Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research (COAST) at Oldenburg University and board member of the Energy Group at OFFIS-Institute. His research interests include Business Information Systems, Federated ERP-Systems, Business Intelligence, Data Science, Applied AI, Interoperability, Environmental Management Information Systems, ICT for Sustainability and E- and Mobile-Commerce. Prof. Dr. Jorge Marx Gómez successfully coordinated several national and international research, capacity building and mobility projects (Tempus, Erasmus Mundus, DAAD) and participated in several EU-FP7 projects.
Dr Michael Braksiek
Dr. Michael Braksiek is a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute of Sports Science at the University of Vechta. After earning his PhD in sports pedagogy with a summa cum laude thesis on a pedagogical-psychological topic from the University of Bielefeld, he joined the University of Vechta in 2020. His current research focuses on empirical education and health research in sports and physical education. He is an expert in advanced quantitative research methods and frequently gives talks at leading national and international conferences. His teaching aims to blend theory with practice, equipping students with the professional skills necessary for a career in the diverse field of sports.
Professor Dr Helmut Faasch
Prof. Dr. Helmut Faasch was a professor of Computer Science at the Leuphana University in Lüneburg and is now part of Prof. Halberstadt’s team in Vechta, especially working together in the field of Innovation and ICT. Before he retired, he was a member of the Institute of Environmental and Sustainability Communication (INFU) at Leuphana. His lectures included Data Base Systems, Computer Networks, Software Development, Mobile Commerce, Knowledge Representation, Fundamentals of Computer Science and Sustainable Communication. As an independent consultant, he worked in the fields of Data Modelling, Object Oriented Software Design and Digital Technical Documentation, particularly in the areas of the international aviation industry and automotive business. As such, he was a leading member of the Air Transport Association (ATA) standardization teams. His research interests include ICT for sustainability, software design principles, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and data science. Prof. Faasch also brings in broad international experiences, as he, e.g., worked as a guest professor at the “University of Texas Pan American”, Edinburg/Texas and the “Athlone Institute of Technology”, Ireland.
Professor Dr Andrea Teti
Prof. Dr. Andrea Teti is junior professor for “Age and Health” at the university of Vechta. His teaching and research activities focus on questions of medical, health and care of elderly people. He did his PhD at the Institute of Medical Sociology and Rehabilitation Science at the Charité-Universitätsmedizin in Berlin. Since 2020 he is direktor of the „Institut für Gerontologie“ (IfG) at Vechta university and is involved in innovative projects. The project ActiVAtE (Activity Tracking Data to Understand Volition, Attrition and Engagement towards Healthy Behaviors in Diabetic Patients and Controls) for example aims at using Big Data in health care to further develop and improve prevention strategies. His research group specifically focuses on tracking activity behavior, especially patients with diabetes diagnoses. He brings in a broad network in academia and practice.
